Tribal Rituals
All of us are being spiritually formed all of the time.
The question is, are we being formed for good, or for ill?
– Dallas Willard
Spiritual disciplines. Liturgy. Habits. Addictions.
Our thought patterns and behaviors – repeated day after day – bring order to our lives. For better or for worse. Over time, that order shapes the whole of our life. And, because of the natural authority you have in your home, it also shapes your spouse and/or children.
This principle is the most powerful tool we have in cultivating God’s Kingdom in the life of our families.
Walk with your children on good paths,
and they will continue to journey in that way.
– Proverbs 22:6, [paraphrased]
What your children see you giving your time, money, and attention to – is what they are learning to give their time, money, and attention to. Despite what you affirm with words.
What we live is what we are discipling our people in – for good or for ill. Your gods will likely become their gods.
As parents – as the priest or priestess of your home – your actions are the dominant voice in the formation of your tribe’s identity.
